AURORA, ILLINOIS, July 11, 2024 – Revv Aviation is delighted to announce the introduction of the “Take Flight” Youth Summer Camp at the headquarters in Aurora. Adventure-seeking campers from the vibrant area of Aurora, IL joined Revv last month for a four-day camp with a wide range of aviation-themed activities. Provided the opportunity to explore the wonder and joy of aviation, the campers loved it, exclaiming “this is the best camp ever” and “I can’t wait to come back next year!”
Mayor Richard Irvin and Deputy Mayor Guillermo Trujillo from the City of Aurora greeted the local youth as Revv kicked off the camp. In partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs of North Central Illinois, with the support of the City of Aurora, Revv Aviation gave a new generation of future aviators, aged 7-12, the chance to survey the skies. “We are thrilled to welcome all our campers to our first ever summer camp!” stated Jayson Scott Wilson, President of Revv. “Aviation has been a long-time passion of mine, and having the opportunity to share the wonders of flight with our local youth is a gift we are incredibly proud to offer.” Mr. Wilson went on to Revv up the cohort, along with the City of Aurora Mayor and Deputy Mayor, for a week of dynamic discovery.
The campers participated in various engaging activities, including an FBO tour that led into a scavenger hunt, aviation bingo, paper airplane contests, line service experience, and a private tour at the Air Classics Museum of Aviation with owner Mike Luman. CL Enterprises Senior Marketing Specialist, Matthew Klein, amazed the campers with an interactive drone presentation and demonstration that allowed campers to try on goggles to see first-hand how far Aviation Technology has progressed. Using the knowledge gained throughout the week, campers poured their hearts into Take Flight’s build-your-own airplane competition, an innovative craft project that resulted in a small, gravity defying aircraft named the Swedish Fish winning first prize.
The most inspiring activity was the flight experience, where each camper was able to sit in the cockpit of a Cessna 172 with Revv pilots Scott Jones, FBO manager in Aurora, and Cameron Turner, Assistant Chief Flight Instructor, KARR. Flying above the Fox River, these young pilots could take control of the yoke and feel the exhilaration of flight. The grounded Campers helped marshal in their friends while waiting, with sky-high anticipation, for their turn on a Revv Aviation Discovery Flight.
“This camp is more than just an introduction to aviation; it’s a chance for our young participants to explore the skies, ignite their imagination, and foster a lifelong love for flying,” concluded Mr. Wilson.
